(INDIANAPOLIS) — The Indiana Chamber of Commerce is offering a number of business education events in May on topics that run the gamut from leadership skills and supervising people, to forklift safety, worker’s compensation and environmental permitting and reporting.

The first two in the May lineup are part of the new ADVANCE Leadership Series, starting with a seminar on Emotional Intelligence & Productive Conflict on May 1-2 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (both days). Attendees will complete a leadership assessment to identify current strength and weaknesses, while learning how to identify, manage and better utilize an emotional response in the workplace, as well as how to work through conflict. The seminar is presented by HRD Advisory Group. Cost: $599 for Indiana Chamber members; list price: $699.

While the popular Supervising and Managing People workshop on May 8-9 is already sold out, there is some availability remaining for the same event on Sept. 11-12. Presented by FlashPoint, this workshop covers foundational management techniques, as well as hands-on training to equip new or seasoned managers with the tools and knowledge to effectively manage employees. Cost: $599 for Indiana Chamber members; list price: $699. This workshop is also part of the ADVANCE Leadership Series.

Both events will be held at the Indiana Chamber’s Conference Center in downtown Indianapolis.

  • Forklift Safety Seminar, May 15, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Indiana Chamber Conference Center. Presented by The Safety Firm with Bobbi K. Samples, CSP, in-house forklift trainers can get up-to-date information and stay in compliance during this one-day seminar. Cost: $399 for Indiana Chamber members; list price: $499
  • 2019 Indiana Worker’s Compensation Conference, May 16, 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. at the JW Marriott Indianapolis. Attendees can learn the best strategies to handle worker’s compensation claims and to keep rates low. Ideal for human resource and personnel directors, safety coordinators, health care providers, claims handlers and anyone involved in controlling the costs of worker’s compensation.   • Environmental Permitting and Reporting Conference, May 21-22, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (both days) at the Indiana Chamber Conference Center. Presented by Keramida, this two-day conference is the most complete and comprehensive permitting and reporting conference offered in Indiana. The course will provide attendees with the information needed to understand environmental permitting programs and offer the most current updates on reporting issues facing the regulated community.
