For 32 years (this November), the Indiana Chamber will have honored a Business Leader, Government Leader and Community of the Year on an annual basis. A fourth award was added in 2015 – the Dynamic Leader of the Year.

Dynamic as in the entrepreneurial aspects of the Dynamic and Creative Culture driver of the Indiana Vision 2025 statewide economic development plan. Dynamic as in mentoring and guiding others on the path to business success. Dynamic as in possessing the personality to lead and take advantage of opportunities that are available.

The first winner was Dustin Sapp, then the head of TinderBox (which later transformed into Octiv and now is part of Conga). The most recent: Brad Bostic of hc1, which played a critical role in 2020 in COVID responses for its clients and continues to passionately pursue the benefits of personalized health care.

Two veteran entrepreneurs were back-to-back honorees in 2018 and 2019, respectively, in Jim Hallett (KAR Global) and John Thompson (right; First Electric and a variety of other companies and positions). They were preceded by Scott McCorkle, who has played key roles in Software Artistry, ExactTarget and Salesforce among others. (We recently caught up with McCorkle for an IN Chamber podcast that was released last week).

And there was one winning organization that didn’t make it in pi lab (featuring the App-connected Edwin the Duck). But the 2016 story with Matt MacBeth and Don Inmon highlights creativity at its highest levels.

The August issue of BizVoice will feature innovators and updates on the finances and other resources that help them gain success. November will bring the seventh winner of the Dynamic Leader of the Year honor at the Chamber’s Annual Awards program. Stay tuned for both, as well as regular Tech Talk emails (see sample) from Adam Berry, the Chamber’s vice president of economic development and technology.
