The 2021 legislation the Indiana Chamber is testifying on before the House and Senate committees.

Bill + Bill Title (with link to the bill digest) | Chamber Position | Committee/Group | Chamber Contact
*** = Priority Legislation

Monday, March 29

*** SB 352 – Broadband Development | SUPPORT | House Utilities | Contact: Contact: Adam Berry
NOTE: This bill adds more competition and transparency to the state’s spending of taxpayer dollars for the expansion of broadband.

SB 359 – Broadband Projects | SUPPORT | House Utilities | Contact: Contact: Adam Berry
NOTE: Offers a creative approach for local communities to fund broadband infrastructure to unserved areas that does not rely on state appropriations.

*** SB 377 – Broadband Development | SUPPORT | House Utilities | Contact: Contact: Adam Berry
NOTE: This bill contemplates three “buckets” for distributing funds that will increase high speed broadband access and adoption throughout the state. By giving employers the ability to apply for funds, they can circumvent the lengthy and unpredictable current rural broadband fund distribution process. The Chamber strongly supports the underlying public policies outlined in SB 377 and encourages legislative action.

SB 386 – Cost Securitization for Electric Utility Assets | SUPPORT | House Utilities | Contact: Greg Ellis
NOTE: Securitization can be a win-win for ratepayers and utilities. Customers should see lower prices as a result of lower financing costs, and utility companies get access to funds to invest in new generation technologies that will provide service into the future.

Wednesday, March 31
HB 1309 – Pregnancy Accommodation | SUPPORT | Senate Pension and Labor | Contact: Mike Ripley
NOTE: This bill is something that employers should be comfortable with. It comes fairly close to codifying the intent of federal law (Americans with Disabilities Act and Pregnancy Discrimination Act) into a state statute with no greater requirements.
