Last night, the Indiana Chamber celebrated the very best in business, community and government with its 34th Annual Awards Dinner. The accolades mark a year of high achievement for the honorees – all of whom are elevating not only themselves and those individuals and organizations associated with them, but the entire state.

Featured as cover stories in the current edition of BizVoice®:

Ogletree Deakins Business Leader of the Year: Paul Thrift’s passion for real estate development and entrepreneurism are on display through a variety of transformational projects throughout the United States. Those qualities – combined with an innate curiosity and focus on faith – helped lay the foundation for Thompson Thrift’s success. Indiana has certainly benefitted from his efforts, and there’s a lot more to Thrift than just real estate development.

Birch Bayh-Richard Lugar Government Leader of the Year: In today’s political climate, it takes a true problem solver to build consensus and get things done. For reaching across the aisle to work with Democratic leadership in authoring and supporting the CHIPS and Science Act to strengthen the country’s economic and national security, U.S. Sen. Todd Young is worthy of recognition.

Dynamic Leader of the Year: Mario Rodriguez – one of the most influential minds in our state – is being honored for his efforts in piloting the strategic direction of the Indianapolis Airport Authority, operating Indiana’s largest airport system and elevating its stature and importance as an economic hub. He’s truly making this state a destination for residents, businesses and visitors.

NextEra Energy Resources Community of the Year: Nothing, it seems, can stop the red-hot momentum of the second-fastest growing county in the state: Boone County. Situated just north of Indianapolis, it’s attracting businesses of all sizes and sectors, as well as citizens with its increasing list of job opportunities and quality-of-life amenities.

The new BizVoice also contains several additional features, including:

New Toolkit for Employers: It’s become imperative for employers to create a healthy work environment for their employees and cultivate positive outcomes among their workforces. A new toolkit, “A Mental Health Stigma-Free Workplace Culture Toolkit” from the Wellness Council of Indiana guides employers on steps they can take to reduce the stigma associated with mental health conditions as well as substance use disorder.

Leading the Way in DEI: For many companies, the journey to implementing diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives is very new. OneAmerica has been focusing on DEI for nearly a decade and shows no sign of taking its foot off that gas pedal.
