MJ Insurance, one of the nation’s largest privately-held insurance agencies with more than five decades of success, markets a “Japanese-Owned Business” specialty and will be traveling to Japan with Governor Holcomb, departing today and returning on Sept. 15. The mission of this trip will be to strengthen current relationships and attract new Japanese-owned businesses in Indiana.
For more than 15 years, MJ Insurance has utilized a specialized practice group servicing the unique needs of Japanese-owned companies to help bridge the gap between insurance and risk management programs in the United States and Japan, due to differences in culture, language and laws. With a dedicated staff fluent in Japanese and detailed knowledge of Japanese businesses, MJ is committed to finding the common issues faced by these companies and have created tailored programs to the specific needs of Japanese clients.
During the trip, the group will meet with Japanese government officials, national business chambers and executives of Japanese companies with operations in Indiana, including Subaru, Toyota and Honda. They will also participate in the Midwest U.S.-Japan Association Conference, an annual meeting to convene business and government representatives from 10 Midwest states and Japan.
Indiana has large economic ties with Japan. With more than 280 business facilities operating across Indiana and employing more than 58,000 associates, Indiana has the largest amount of Japanese investment per capita. Additionally, many Indiana-based companies, including Eli Lilly, Cook Medial, Cummins, Urschel Laboratories and Zimmer Biomet, have operations in Japan.
