(INDIANAPOLIS) — Chamber President and CEO Kevin Brinegar comments on House action on Senate Bill 198:

“While not the perfect process or the perfect bill, House efforts on a bias crimes statute are a positive step in the right direction. The legislation appears to remove Indiana from the list of five states without a bias/hate crimes law. It is also carefully crafted to be comprehensive, despite certain specific characteristics as outlined in our policy position not being listed. Enacting this legislation is highly preferred over another General Assembly stalemate that would unfortunately enhance the false perception of Indiana as an unwelcoming state to work and live. We urge House passage of this legislation.”
