The message is not new, but it is more important than ever. It is a message the Indiana Chamber and many other groups feel is vital to our state’s individual health and collective economic recovery.

Every Action Counts (EAC) is a statewide effort in the fight against COVID-19. The Chamber is partnering with, among others, the Indiana Hospital Association, Accelerate Indiana Municipalities, Central Indiana Corporate Partnership, National Federation of Independent Business, Indiana Manufacturers Association and Indiana Restaurant & Lodging Association.

EAC encourages everyone to:

  • mask up when outside of the home;
  • sanitize – wash your hands often and avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth;
  • avoid public gatherings and follow social distancing guidelines; and
  • stay home if you are feeling ill.

Yes, initial vaccines are here for health care workers and other professionals in need. More are coming, but it will be multiple months before supplies will meet demand.

The vaccines are indeed a strong ray of hope in what has sometimes been a dark, gloomy battle. But our health and the health of our loved ones, neighbors and fellow Hoosiers in the next few months will be determined by as many people as possible following the EAC playbook.

You will see and hear EAC messages, starting this weekend, on many media outlets throughout the state. You and your team members will be reminded of the importance in communications from the Chamber and the other EAC partners.

In recent weeks, the Chamber has also teamed with the Indiana State Teachers Association to spread the word on the need to get students back in the classroom and employees back in the workplace.

Chamber President Kevin Brinegar said at the time: “This is all about people – today’s employees and our future workforce. Our workplaces and schools are inextricably tied in how we address this pandemic. The strains on the education system directly impact the workplace as well with parents/workers caught in a nearly impossible balancing act.”

In that same communication, Katherine Feley, CEO of the Indiana State Nurses Association, added: “Adherence to the Indiana mask mandate is a matter of personal responsibility, and when Hoosiers fail to act responsibly, it is the health care and essential workers that are paying the price. Anyone who refuses to wear a mask is directly putting others at risk of harm. Personal freedom should not extend to the freedom of placing others in danger.”

Remember: Every Action Counts.
