The annual Governor’s Workplace Safety Awards (GWSA) provide recognition for companies based on best practices for eliminating workplace injuries and illnesses, and salute employers who have made safety and health a top priority.
The Governor’s Workplace Safety Awards are competitive awards. If your company is interested in being recognized, you must submit an application addressing all appropriate questions. Applications will be evaluated by members of the American Society of Safety Engineers and the Indiana Department of Labor’s INSafe consultation division.

The Everyday Safety Hero (ESH) award provides Hoosier employers with the opportunity to nominate an individual who has championed workplace safety and health excellence in their respective workplace. The nominee is not required to be a safety or health professional. Rather, this award was developed to acknowledge and recognize the contributions, participation, and impact that a front-line employee plays in Hoosier workplace safety and health excellence.
The awards ceremonies take place at the Indiana Safety and Health Conference & Expo.
The Governor’s Workplace Safety Awards are a result of a partnership between the Indiana Department of Labor, on behalf of Governor Eric J. Holcomb, the Indiana Chamber of Commerce and the Central Indiana Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers.
