A 2009 Lebanon Senior High School graduate and Lebanon, Indiana native returned home Aug. 9, marking the end of a seven-month deployment aboard USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69). Since departing its homeport of Norfolk, Virginia in January 2020 for the ship’s Composite Training Unit Exercise (COMPTUEX), the aircraft carrier remained underway and deployed to the Arabian Sea, Red Sea, Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Justin Kersey is an aviation electronics technician aboard the carrier. As an aviation electronics technician, Kersey is responsible for in-depth troubleshooting and repair of all electronic circuitry and cables within Navy aircraft and supporting equipment.

“My favorite part of my job is knowing that we support all the workcenters,” said Kersey. “Our team helps save the Navy man power and money in repairs and maintenance.”
