(INDIANAPOLIS) — Indiana’s talent pipeline remains a needed and critical conduit to a thriving future economy. In order to maximize potential in this area, stakeholders around the state are partnering on a new program.
The TPM Academy® is a training developed by the U.S. Chamber Foundation that seeks to enhance partnerships between employers and their talent supply chain partners. The academy will be supported locally by the Institute for Workforce Excellence (IWE), a subsidiary of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, and the Indiana Commission for Higher Education.
The first cohort of the academy, which is set to begin on June 23, will include around 40 individuals from across the state, including representatives from workforce boards, local chambers of commerce, educational institutions and more who will embark on the four-month training program.
“We are excited to partner with the Indiana Commission for Higher Education’s Career and Technical Education Team and U.S. Chamber Foundation to bring workforce leaders together from across the state to address employers’ talent challenges,” says Sally Saydshoev, IWE executive director. “The TPM Academy of Indiana provides a space to learn from one another, share practical insights and explore collaborative approaches to better align talent development with real industry needs and build on the foundation of past and current efforts.”
She adds, “Together, we’re creating a more informed and responsive system – both during the academy sessions and long after it ends.”
The TPM Academy® will feature a customized curriculum that serves as an employer handbook giving participants the knowledge, skills and abilities to implement talent supply chain solutions on behalf of their employer collaborative members.
The Indiana Chamber understands that workforce development is one of the most important challenges for employers. The organization hopes the academy will foster a community of practice to enhance employer engagement in talent development and align outcomes with other statewide talent development initiatives. Saydshoev says other key benefits of the academy are to ensure education and training programs meet employer workforce needs through structured input and feedback (demand signal), plus support for employers in co-creating talent and navigating complex workforce and education systems.
Building a talent pipeline is prioritized and represented across two of the six key strategy areas (education and workforce) in the Indiana Chamber’s current economic vision playbook for the state, Indiana Prosperity 2035.”
