A brief preview of two upcoming Indiana innovation and entrepreneurial events looking to grow after impressive debuts a year ago:

We shared (before and after) the 2018 launch of IDEA Week in the South Bend-Elkhart region. The second iteration of the innovation festival (April 8-13) will feature more than 50 sessions focused around four themes: Learn, Play, Meet and Compete.

The IDEA Center (Innovation, De-Risking and Enterprise Acceleration) at the University of Notre Dame is the lead organization. Episode 24 of the first season of the EchoChamber podcast featured Bryan Ritchie, associate provost and vice president for innovation, discussing the importance of the inaugural IDEA Week along with other innovation efforts in the region.

The 2019 version ranges from country singer Tim McGraw in concert to Bill Nye the Science Guy and a McCloskey New Venture Competition. The breadth and depth of the series of events is impressive. Complete details at https://ideaweek.com/.

Another second-year program is Kinetic 2019! Elevate Ventures has organized this portfolio conference where “entrepreneurs and investors gain access to the knowledge, networks and opportunities needed to accelerate their ambitions.”

The full schedule for the May 2 event at the Biltwell Event Center in Indianapolis is still being developed. Among the topics: sales playbooks, building culture, forming an effective start-up board, capital sources and tax credits available, and market trends for data, analytics and machine learning.

Elevate Ventures offers a summary of the first event. Learn more about 2019 at https://kineticindiana.com/.
