In the world of surveys, the Indiana Chamber strives to operate from a quality rather than a quantity standpoint. In other words, we seek your input when required to inform next steps for policy or program development – with the results of those efforts coming back to assist companies and their employees.

Accelerating Indiana Vision 2025+ is a recently announced initiative that will help drive the state’s economic recovery from COVID-19. This initial survey, with nearly 900 business respondents, sets the stage for Indiana perspectives one year after the start of the pandemic.

Access the press release for full findings. A few of the key numbers:

  • 74%: Indiana has a strong business climate
  • 77%: The state is heading in the right direction
  • 38%: The country is heading in the right direction (54% put the U.S. on the wrong track)
  • 63%: The economy will be better a year from now and 57% believe their business will be in a better position at this point in 2022

“The right track/wrong track divide between how Indiana and the country are progressing is nothing new,” says Indiana Chamber President Kevin Brinegar. “It is also good, of course, to see Indiana employers encouraged about future prospects, but an ongoing and growing challenge is the need for more qualified workers.”

Business leaders identify primary obstacles to their operations as lack of qualified workers (67%), the ongoing effects of the pandemic (36%) and government regulations (27%).
