Even during the summer months, we remain very active regarding the goings-on at the Statehouse. Below are summer/fall study committee meetings in the health and labor arenas that we are engaged with for our members and the business community:

  • The Public Health Interim Committee will be meeting September 20 to discuss Delta 8, Delta 9 and other THC products regarding potential health benefits, decriminalization and other consequences.
  • The Financial Institutions and Insurance Interim Committee will discuss prior authorizations on October 3. More specifically, they’ll tackle whether a health insurer or a health maintenance organization should be required to exempt a participating health care provider from needing prior authorization on a particular health care service if the participating health care provider has continuously received approval for the health care service for a determined number of months.
  • The joint meeting of the Financial Institutions and Insurance and Public Health Interim Committees on October 20 will study the market concentration of the health insurance, hospital, health care practitioners, retail pharmaceutical, pharmacy benefit managers and the pharmacy services administration organization (including its relationship to pharmaceutical wholesalers) industries.
