It has been 8 years since the Sixth Edition of the Indiana Worker’s Compensation Handbook was published. While the general principles applicable to the Indiana Worker’s Compensation Act have changed little, some of the specifics have seen significant modification.

The Worker’s Compensation Board has adopted EDI 3.1 and required more electronic filing.  Many of the Board’s Forms have been revised. The Board has issued advisory information regarding PPI evidence and withdrawn certain information previously used in PPI calculation. There have been numerous common law decisions that have interpreted important statutory provisions and those decisions have been incorporated into the discussion of the worker’s compensation process. And the Indiana legislature has made numerous statutory changes to update the Worker’s Compensation Act. Most notably, there will be benefit rate changes effective in 2023;  the first such changes since July 1, 2016.

The Handbook text has been completely reviewed and updated for clarity and examples have been streamlined. Outdated material and “ancient” rates have been removed for ease of use. And, the Appendix has been significantly revised to include only the most relevant and important supporting materials. There is every reason to believe that you will find this publication even more beneficial and relevant to your understanding of and participation in the Indiana Worker’s Compensation system.
