The Indiana Chamber’s Wellness Council of Indiana (WCI) has launched new mental health support for Hoosier employers.

A series of Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) trainings are now available to those interested in enhancing their workforce mental health efforts.

WCI staff members are certified MHFA instructors who teach employees how to identify, understand and respond to mental health and substance use challenges in the workplace.

MHFA is a skill- and evidenced-based training, says Olivia Ridgeway, WCI program manager. “It takes the fear and hesitation out of starting conversations about mental health and substance use problems by improving understanding and providing an action plan that teaches people to safely and responsibly identify and address a potential mental illness or substance use disorder.”

Participants can engage in MHFA training two ways. The first is by attending one of three virtual group training sessions scheduled this year on April 13, July 21 or November 9. Employers can also bring MHFA directly on site to their workplace.

All virtual trainings require pre-work to attend the live session; WCI member organization receive registration discounts
