House Bill 1001, authored by Rep. Doug Miller (R-Elkhart), would take meaningful steps toward reducing unnecessary regulatory barriers, streamlining housing approvals and allowing a broader mix of housing types. These reforms will help lower development costs, increase housing supply and approve predictability for private investment.
We provided testimony in support of this legislation in the House Local Government Committee, highlighting that our Indiana Prosperity 2035 economic vision plan identifies quality of place, including access to attainable housing.
Minor amendments were added to the bill, but we expect this bill to pass out of the House next week as the third reading deadline approaches.
