(INDIANAPOLIS) — The Indiana Chamber of Commerce’s Institute for Workforce Excellence has launched a second U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation Talent Pipeline Management (TPM) Academy®, convening more than 35 leaders in workforce, education, economic development and industry to help employers better define in-demand jobs and the skills needed to fill them.

In partnership with the Indiana Commission for Higher Education, the Institute is expanding its TPM Academy® opportunities and accelerating employer-led workforce solutions statewide.

Participants in the new cohort represent communities throughout Indiana and reflect a shared commitment to aligning education and workforce training systems more closely with real-time employer demand. They hail from the South Bend–Elkhart region, southeast Indiana (Sellersburg and Jeffersonville), southwest Indiana (Evansville and Mount Vernon), West Lafayette, Muncie and central Indiana.

The cohort, which just started its work, will complete a structured learning experience using the nationally recognized TPM® framework and graduate in July.

“The U.S. Chamber’s TPM® strategies help shift workforce conversations from assumptions to action,” says Todd Hurst, the Indiana Chamber’s vice president of strategic partnerships and impact. “By putting employers in the driver’s seat, we create a shared understanding of workforce demand and a practical structure for education and training partners to respond with solutions that are relevant, timely and aligned with real jobs.

“Building a talent pipeline is prioritized and found across two of the six key strategy areas (education and workforce) in the Indiana Chamber’s current economic vision playbook for the state, Indiana Prosperity 2035.”

The TPM Academy® features a customized curriculum designed as an employer playbook, helping participants build the knowledge and tools to implement talent supply chain solutions through employer collaboratives. Specifically, organizations can strengthen employer engagement in talent development and align with statewide talent initiatives, improve “demand signals” so education and training programs better match employer needs and support employers and partners in co-creating talent solutions and navigating complex workforce and education systems.

Graduates of the first TPM Academy® of Indiana continue to meet as a community of practice, applying the framework to strengthen regional talent pipelines.

One example is the North Central Indiana Healthcare Talent Alliance, which is using TPM® to convene employers, clarify critical workforce needs and better align education and training programs with demand.

As Indiana’s economy evolves, the TPM Academy® of Indiana is a continued investment in workforce systems that are aligned, collaborative and led by employers’ needs.
