(INDIANAPOLIS) — Indiana Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Kevin Brinegar comments on the passing of Indianapolis business and civic leader Jerry Semler, former top executive at American United Life Insurance Company (AUL) and 2003 Indiana Chamber board chairman:
“Jerry’s business expertise and leadership were only part of the story. His dedication and commitment to the betterment of the city and state were unparalleled.
“Whether it was in business or the numerous community boards and committees he was involved in, he delivered results time and again. It’s that thoughtfulness and quiet determination – really his commitment to helping others – that I’ll always remember.”
Semler, a longtime member of the Indiana Chamber Board of Directors, was honored in 2004 as the organization’s business leader of the year for elevating the growth and stature of AUL – now OneAmerica Financial Partners – as an Indiana-headquartered company. Most recently, he was still actively involved in the Indiana Chamber as a director emeritus and member of the Indiana Business for Responsive Government political action committee.
