Governor Eric Holcomb announced Wednesday that Bruno Pigott will be stepping down from his role as commissioner of the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) effective December 3. Piggott has accepted a federal position as the deputy assistant administrator in for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Office of Water.

From our perspective, Pigott has served admirably as the main regulator of Indiana’s environment. He has always been responsive and willing to talk with the Indiana Chamber and collaborate on ways to make the regulatory process work as smoothly as possible for the business community while also protecting Indiana’s environmental resources.

On a personal level, I selfishly regret he’s moving on from the state but congratulate him on an outstanding opportunity! Hopefully, he will have a positive influence on the EPA and I look forward to working with him in that capacity.
