A recent virtual fundraiser generated more than $86,000 to help hospitality workers whose jobs have been eliminated or furloughed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Hoosiers Helping Hoosiers on April 9-10 was a partnership between WISH-TV and the Indiana Restaurant & Lodging Association.

The impact hits home in Indiana, as workers in restaurants and lodging make up one of the largest sectors of Hoosier employees: over 88,000.

The campaign ignited the generosity of businesses and viewers alike. Bidders set their sights on auction items such as signed jerseys from the Indiana Pacers and Indianapolis Colts (to name a few) a VIP dinner.

Ruth’s Chris Steak House and a custom dinner by renowned chef Neal Brown.

A variety of businesses – and familiar Hoosier faces – also contributed to the cause. View video.
