Senate Bill 565 – Department of State Revenue
Authored by Sen. Travis Holdman (R-Markle)
Contains numerous changes to the administrative procedures governing the operations of the state Department of Revenue (DOR).
The Latest: Heard by the House Ways and Means Committee on Wednesday, but no vote taken yet.
Chamber Position: Support
Chamber Action/Commentary: This is DOR’s “agency bill” – always a lengthy compilation of statutory tweaks. And almost always, it contains portions that cause us some pause, changes that skew things a little too much in favor of the department and away from the taxpayer. The bill, as introduced, was no exception. However, the department was very good to work with Chamber representatives to resolve the couple of issues we had. It devoted a good bit of staff time to meet with us and find ways to address the segments that caused us heartburn. Our appreciation was made known at this week’s hearing.
