Centier Bank has achieved a significant milestone in the first quarter of 2019, as Indiana’s largest private, family-owned bank surpassed $4.5 billion in total assets. This milestone was achieved while Centier has completed its eighth consecutive quarter of pre-tax earnings growth. Centier surpassed the $3.5 billion milestone in 2017 and passed $4 billion in assets in 2018.

“Thanks to our sound, principled business practices, we have seen continued success as we continue to grow thanks to our unmatched service and desire to help build communities throughout Indiana,” explained Michael E. Schrage, President and CEO of Centier Bank. “Our associates and their Servant Heart Culture are going above and beyond to build long-lasting trustful relationships with our clients.”

The announcement comes shortly after that Centier ranked #5 among the Best Places to Work in Indiana by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, the 13th consecutive year the bank has been recognized as such. In May, the bank won an Indiana Bankers Association MAXI Award for its “Heart of the Community” campaign, an honor that showcases excellence in bank marketing and advertising throughout the state.

Also in the first quarter of 2019, Centier announced new retail banking centers opening in Michigan City and Elkhart, along with a new Mortgage Loan Center in Greenwood. During a time in which other banks are merging or abandoning their communities, Centier continues to grow in large part thanks to its “Not for Sale” Promise, a declaration that the bank will be locally owned by the Schrage Family for generations to come.

In expanding its reach through community service and volunteerism, the organization’s associates continue to embody the Servant Heart Culture the bank holds as one of its core values. In the 1st quarter alone, over 500 organizations have benefited from Centier associates’ over 6,000 hours of volunteerism, which reached all 11 counties the bank serves.
