Ted Dickman, CEO of BKD CPAs & Advisors, has been awarded the Indiana University (IU) Accounting Alumni Lifetime Achievement Award. Dickman was one of a few alumni and friends that the IU Kelley School of Business accounting department recognized for making significant contributions to the fields of accounting and business. The CEO accepted the award at the department’s recognition banquet on November 7, 2019.

“Ted has leveraged his IU degree to become a great leader in our firm and within our profession. He’s an excellent mentor to many of us here at BKD and even a better family man,” said East Region Managing Partner Robert Pruitt. “It’s no surprise to anyone who knows Ted that IU has selected him for this Lifetime Achievement Award as an outstanding IU accounting alumnus. We’ve been fortunate to have him serve as BKD’s CEO.”

As CEO, Dickman is responsible for the firm’s leadership and strategic direction. Under his leadership, BKD has nearly doubled in size to employ approximately 2,900 trusted advisors. He also is chair of BKD’s Governing Board, which sets firm policy and oversees strategic initiatives. Dickman serves on the board of Praxity, AISBL, a global alliance of independent CPA firms, of which BKD is a leading member firm.

Before he was named CEO, Dickman was regional managing partner of BKD’s East Region and managing partner of the firm’s Indianapolis, Bloomington, Fort Wayne, Merrillville and Cincinnati offices. He entered public accounting in 1983 as a tax professional in BKD’s Indianapolis office and was elected partner in 1991. Dickman is a graduate with distinction of IU, Bloomington, with a B.S. degree in accounting. This year marks IU’s bicentennial and Kelley’s centennial.
