INDIANAPOLIS – FIRST Indiana Robotics is thrilled to announce the upcoming FIRST Tech Challenge State Championship, set to take place at the University of Indianapolis on March 9, 2024. This eagerly awaited event will bring together the brightest young minds from across the state, offering them a platform to demonstrate their skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

The championship is the culmination of hard work, dedication, and innovation from teams across Indiana. Participants have spent months preparing for this event, not only by designing and building robots but also by engaging in community improvement projects related to STEM, fundraising, and networking with mentors and sponsors. The event promises to be a celebration of the creativity and problem-solving skills that FIRST Indiana Robotics fosters in young people.

“We are incredibly proud of all the participants and the impact they are making in their communities,” said Ashley Robbins, President of FIRST Indiana Robotics. “The Tech Challenge is not just about competing; it’s about learning, growing, and preparing for the future.”

The State Championship will feature teams that have excelled in various qualifying tournaments held across the state, including those from Avon, Granger, Bloomington, Lafayette, Mishawaka, Merrillville, Indianapolis and many other communities. In addition to the competition, the event will highlight the importance of mentorship through the Compass Award and promote the spirit of FIRST through the Promote Award. These awards emphasize the community and educational aspects of the FIRST Tech Challenge, recognizing the significant contributions of mentors and the broader impact of the program on participants’ lives.

The championship is open to the public and free of charge, offering a unique opportunity for community members to support local youth and witness the future of technology and innovation. Attendees can expect a day filled with exciting competitions, inspiring projects, and the chance to learn more about the role of STEM in shaping our world.

Participants in FIRST Indiana Robotics also gain access to exclusive scholarships, education and career discovery. FIRST Indiana Robotics serves as the FIRST program delivery organization for the state, part of the global FIRST community founded by inventor Dean Kamen in 1989, that includes an extensive alumni network. Supported by a worldwide network of volunteers, educators, and sponsors, including more than 200 Fortune 500 companies, the organization aims to inspire young people to become science and technology leaders.
