The following is a guest post from TechPoint:
Indiana is prepared to send more robotics teams to the World Championship than any other state after an unprecedented 167 teams at last weekend’s State Robotics Championship qualified for the World Championship in Dallas, Texas.
In a very short amount of time, these teams have to come up with a $1,200 registration fee as well as transportation and lodging costs at the event and funding for travel and accommodations for the April 25-May 4 event.
Many of the kids on these teams come from underserved and underrepresented families, so the cost could keep them from taking their rightful places on that world stage. Robotics is more than just fun. It gets kids who are usually left of out things into activities that encourage interest in science, technology, engineering and math classes, which lead to careers in tech.
TechPoint Foundation for Youth, which organizes the state robotics program, has received requests for more than $20,000 to support the Indiana teams going to the world competition and have yet to reach $1,000 in donations.
We need your help to raise awareness of this need, which is coming from teams throughout Indiana.
