Thank you President Pro Tempore (Rod) Bray and Minority Leader (Greg) Taylor for co-authoring this concurrent resolution congratulating the Indiana Chamber of Commerce on its 100th anniversary.
The Indiana Chamber is a statewide business advocacy organization representing some 25,000 member and investor businesses of all types and sizes across all 92 counties.
Over 70% of our members are small businesses with fewer than 100 employees, making the Indiana Chamber the largest small business organization in Indiana.
While our core mission is advocacy and member information and services, the Indiana Chamber has several other entities under its umbrella. These include a foundation concentrating on in-depth public policy research and economic visioning, as well as the largest state or local chamber political action committee in the U.S.
We also house the Wellness Council of Indiana. That entity helps employers establish wellness programs, manages the Healthy Communities program, as well as provides assistance and information to employers regarding opioids and other substance abuse issues in the workplace.
Our newest entity is the Institute for Workforce Excellence, which works with various state agencies and other organizations to lift up the skills of our adult workforce and prepare our children to succeed in the knowledge-based economy of the 21st Century.
Going forward, we want to continue to be your partners in helping to make Indiana the best, most competitive state it can possibly be.
We may not always agree on what are the best policies to achieve our shared vision of making Indiana the number one state to grow jobs and raise families. And that’s fine. But please know that year after year, every policy position or bill that the Indiana Chamber takes on is important to the business community. These decisions are taken thoughtfully and with the purpose of following the guiding star that is our mission statement: “cultivate a world-class environment which provides economic opportunity and prosperity for All the people of Indiana and their enterprises.”
