Bruce Pigott

Bruno Pigott recently stepped down from his role as commissioner of the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) effective December 3. Pigott accepted a federal position as the deputy assistant administrator in for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Office of Water.

From our perspective, Pigott served admirably as the main regulator of Indiana’s environment. He was always responsive and willing to talk with the Indiana Chamber and collaborate on ways to make the regulatory process work as smoothly as possible for the business community while also protecting Indiana’s environmental resources.

On a personal level, I selfishly regret he’s moved on from the state but congratulate him on an outstanding opportunity! Hopefully, he will have a positive influence on the EPA and I look forward to working with him in that capacity.

Greg Ellis is vice president of energy & environmental policy for the Indiana Chamber. He has been with the organization for five years and previously was a law judge for the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission for six years.
