The Interim Committee on Fiscal Policy annually reviews a number of issues per their assignments from the Legislative Council (essentially the four caucus leaders). Additionally, the committee has in recent years been briefed by the Legislative Services Agency’s (LSA) fiscal staff on the utilization of certain tax incentives – taking on a select number each year on a rotating basis until all incentives are eventually reviewed.

This year’s presentation covered certified technology parks, community revitalization and enhancement districts, brownfield abatements and low-income housing exemptions. (View the PowerPoint presentation and full LSA report.)

The committee considered several other matters of a broader nature as well. These included the 2021 workforce programs evaluation, the Department of Revenue geographic information systems (GIS) status update and information on watershed development commissions. (View the committee’s complete meeting agenda and final report.)

The Interim Committee on Fiscal Policy and LSA together provide a lot of useful information that’s helpful to better understanding Indiana’s fiscal picture.
