On June 9, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of the Army concluded their review of the Navigable Waters Protection Rule defining the term “waters of the United States” or WOTUS. As a result, the agencies have announced their intention to initiate a new rulemaking process that restores the protections in place prior to the 2015 WOTUS implementation and develops a new rule to establish a durable definition of “waters of the United States.” Full details.

Earlier this month, the Senate voted 68-32 to pass U.S. Sen. Todd Young’s (R-Ind.) Endless Frontier Acta landmark bill to out-compete China in key emerging technology areas critical to our national security. The measure – which has earned praise as a rare bipartisan victory in the Senate –invests heavily in emerging technologies and creates regional tech hubs that will steer investment across the country. It now heads to the House for consideration.

The Indiana Chamber is very supportive of this measure, which would positively impact Hoosier entrepreneurs and innovative companies. We were invited and attended a press conference last Friday in Fishers held by Sen. Young and Gov. Eric Holcomb on the Endless Frontier Act and technology in Indiana. We thanked both of them for prioritizing innovation and reaffirmed with Sen. Young that his act is a much-needed effort and is greatly appreciated by the Hoosier business community.
