Sporting clays competition raising funds to send children from across Indiana to summer camp at Hidden Falls Camp

INDIANAPOLIS – The Salvation Army is signing up teams for its 3rd Annual Clays for a Cause event on September 25, 2026, at Indiana’s premier shotgun-only range, Indiana Gun Club, just northeast of Indianapolis. The 12-station sporting clays course will offer participants a challenging day of competitive shooting while raising funds to help The Salvation Army’s vital summer camp programs in Indiana. The event will be emceed by native Hoosier Creek Stewart, who is known worldwide as a wilderness survival expert, author, and television host.

Registration is now open at ClaysForACause.net.

“Clays for a Cause is becoming a fun tradition and continues to be a great way to raise funds in support of our summer camp programs,” said Major Marc Johnson, Divisional Commander for The Salvation Army. “Across our state, Hoosiers hold fond memories of Hidden Falls Camp – whether those memories were made this summer or thirty years ago. It’s a special place that brings out the best in children and opens their eyes to the wonders of God’s creation.”

Clays for a Cause is open to individuals and teams statewide. Proceeds from the day’s events will help The Salvation Army offer at-risk and disadvantaged children from across Indiana the experience of a lifetime: a week at Hidden Falls Camp next summer.

The 700-acre Hidden Falls Camp is located in beautiful southern Indiana in a landscape that offers rolling hills and wooded trails, rustic log cabins for campers, and a wide range of traditional camp activities. Kids at Hidden Falls Camps enjoy swimming, archery, fishing, arts and crafts, high ropes courses, mountain biking, and even zip lining. Activities and themes vary from week to week, immersing campers in the arts, STEAM, sports, and even the challenge of “roughing it” with outdoor survival skills.

“At camp we see kids open up and let go of the burdens they might carry back at home,” said Dan Bell, Hidden Falls Camp Director. “When they’re at Hidden Falls, they get to make new friends, try new experiences, and start healing from the hurts that we can’t even see. This is a place where they can just be kids and feel safe and nurtured. It’s what summer is supposed to be.”
