MADISON – A high school equivalency diploma, an industry-recognized certification, or an apprenticeship can be the first step toward a brighter future. River Valley Resources, Inc. (RVR) is helping individuals throughout Southeast Indiana take those steps by connecting them with education, workforce training, and career opportunities that can change lives.
Founded in 1990, River Valley Resources is a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing a competitive workforce through collaboration and innovative services for individuals, employers, and communities. RVR works across Southeast Indiana to help individuals overcome barriers, develop in-demand skills, and prepare for meaningful employment while helping local employers build a stronger workforce.
Education and Training That Lead to Opportunity
RVR provides pathways for individuals at different stages of life and career development. Whether someone needs to finish high school, earn a credential, learn a new trade, or prepare for a better-paying job, RVR connects them with opportunities to move forward.
Through its Adult Education program, RVR helps individuals prepare for and earn their High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma, commonly known as the GED. Participants strengthen their academic skills, build confidence, and prepare for additional education, career training, and employment.
RVR also connects individuals with industry-recognized certifications, pre-apprenticeship training, and Registered Apprenticeship opportunities. These pathways help participants develop practical skills and gain the knowledge and experience employers need. By connecting education with hands-on learning and career preparation, RVR helps individuals pursue sustainable employment and long-term career growth.
Building Careers and Strengthening the Workforce
RVR understands that education and training are only part of the journey. Individuals may also face challenges such as limited work experience, transportation barriers, or difficulty reentering the workforce. Through workforce development programs, including Rural Works, RVR provides individualized guidance, employment support, and connections to community resources.
The organization collaborates with employers, educational institutions, and community partners to identify workforce needs and create pathways that benefit both job seekers and businesses. These partnerships help individuals access new opportunities while supporting the continued growth of Southeast Indiana’s workforce.
“An apprenticeship or certification can open the door to a career someone may not have thought possible, just as earning a high school equivalency diploma can create opportunities for further education and employment,” said Konnie McCollum, Chief Operating Officer of River Valley Resources. “We want people to know that no matter where they are starting, there are opportunities to learn, grow, and build a better future. When individuals gain the skills and confidence they need to succeed, it makes a difference for their families, employers, and our entire community.”
Changing Lives, One Opportunity at a Time
Behind every credential earned, diploma completed, and career started is an individual taking an important step toward a better future. RVR believes that everyone deserves the opportunity to discover their potential, build their skills, and pursue meaningful work.
By investing in people and strengthening partnerships throughout Southeast Indiana, River Valley Resources is helping create a more skilled workforce and stronger communities. From the classroom to the workplace, RVR remains committed to helping individuals turn their goals into achievements.
Individuals interested in earning their HSE diploma, pursuing certifications, exploring apprenticeship opportunities, or accessing workforce support are encouraged to connect with River Valley Resources to learn more about available programs and services.
