Lisa Human

A local accounting expert will have the unique opportunity to be a guest panelist and speaker during the upcoming Thomson Reuters Partner Summit Thought Leadership event in Annapolis, MD this August. The international organization says its Partner Summits are among its “most popular and thought-provoking events of the year.”

Lisa Human, CPA, senior manager and QuickBooks ProAdvisor with Michigan City-based CLH, CPAs & Consultants, will join other industry professionals from throughout the nation in discussing the growing trend of greater advisory service adoption in the accounting field.

Human will be speaking on CLH’s experience in transitioning from a traditional accounting firm model to one with a greater advisory approach. She’ll be sharing CLH’s challenges and successes with a specific Thomson Reuters business advisory model and will interface with other firms to share best practices and answer questions about making a similar transition.

“As our industry has evolved, we’re seeing more accounting firms pivot their offerings in an effort to get ahead of emerging topics for their clients. As CPAs, we can no longer afford to be reactive. We have to take a proactive approach to preserve the financial futures of the businesses and individuals we serve. And that’s a big part of the rise of advisory services in our industry,” Human said.

“Making the transition to advisory services can be a bit of a challenge for accounting firms that are trying this for the first time,” Human added. “That’s why I’m very excited to share all CLH has learned with our accounting peers from throughout the country.”

Tony Gillisse, CPA, and partner with CLH, said that his firm remains committed to advancing and advocating for the accounting industry in any way that it can. Sharing best practices is a core component of that commitment.

“We’ve learned a great deal over the last few years about how to offer an increasing number of various advisory services to our clients,” Gillisse said. “Lisa’s involvement in this summit is a fantastic way for us to share knowledge and help other accounting companies in our industry grow their services.”

In her activities at CLH, Human provides a range of accounting services, including advising clients on the tax implications of organizational decisions, and assisting business owners as they develop best practices, policies, and internal controls. She also prepares tax returns, financial statements, and oversees payroll and bookkeeping departments.
