Attorney Cathleen Wyatt Joins Ice Miller

Ice Miller LLP welcomes attorney Cathleen Wyatt to the Firm’s Business Services Group. Her practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, commercial contracts and agreements—including stock and asset purchase agreements, professional services agreements, master equipment and service agreements, vendor agreements, non-disclosure agreements, leases and real estate and financing documents—and general corporate and governance matters.

Prior to joining Ice Miller, Cathleen was an associate at an Indianapolis law firm, assisting with a wide range of projects across practice groups, such as mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, municipal bond offerings, real estate transactions on both buyer and seller sides, municipal development projects and tax abatements.

“Cathleen gained more than a decade of experience in banking and financial services before transitioning to law,” said Steve Humke, chief managing partner of Ice Miller. “Her deep understanding of the industry will be an enormous asset to the Business Services Group and her clients.”

Before law school, Cathleen worked in the banking and financial services industry for approximately 12 years, with most of her time spent in anti-money laundering compliance and fraud prevention. She served as the vice president of the Financial Intelligence Unit as a Bank Secrecy Officer where she managed a team of 20 employees. Cathleen oversaw anti-money laundering investigations, regulatory report reconciliation and filing, Office of Foreign Assets Control sanction requirements, Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML) OCC regulatory examinations and internal audits, risk assessment and the BSA program. She also initiated the creation of a new Loss Prevention Department and developed new monitoring methods to prevent and detect fraud as the assistant vice president of the Fraud Department.

Ice Miller Welcomes Megan Hedrick to Intellectual Property Group

Ice Miller LLP is pleased to announce Megan Hedrick is now an attorney with the Firm’s Intellectual Property Group. Her background in biochemistry allows her to aid clients with the patent process for pharmaceuticals and various new inventions. Megan first joined Ice Miller in 2018 as a summer associate before transitioning to a law clerk role with the Intellectual Property Group.

Prior to joining Ice Miller, Megan served as a patent extern for a global pharmaceutical company and the Naval Sea Systems Command. During these externships, she evaluated new invention disclosures and assessed patentability and freedom to operate searches; supported efforts to draft new patent applications; assisted in patent drafting, office response actions and other patent-related communications with the USPTO and internal patent counsel; and assisted in portfolio evaluations of licensed technology.

“We have had quite a few extremely talented scientists turned IP attorneys join the Firm, and Megan is no exception,” said Steve Humke, chief managing partner of Ice Miller. “Megan’s background in analytical chemistry will serve her very well as she guides her clients through the patent process.”

Megan also worked as an associate scientist for a privately held scientific research service provider where she designed experiments for internal quality control and data collection; communicated feasibility and limitations of experiments with external clients; prepared reports for federal agencies; and authored standard operating procedures, quality documents and IACUC protocols.

Formerly an analytical chemist in quality control for a contract development and manufacturing company in Bloomington, Megan executed a variety of quality control tests for both API and parenteral products. In addition, Megan also served on lab improvement teams, performed method transfers and method validations and engaged in technical writing.
