112 Wabash Valley organizations came together to support children’s mental health services.

TERRE HAUTE – Hamilton Center, Inc. (HCI) hosted the 33rd Annual Sheriff Shootout Golf Outing at Rea Park in Terre Haute on Friday May 10, 2024.

As is tradition, Sheriff’s teams compete in a morning Sheriff’s Tournament for the coveted Sheriff’s Shootout Trophy, while the rest of the field competed among 58 teams for 1st through 7th place prizes in the Community Tournament. This year, in a field of six, the Sheriff’s Shootout Trophy was claimed by Vermillion County Sheriff’s Department. Top 7 finishers for the Community Tournament were Farmer’s Insurance, Central Indiana Asphalt, Vermillion County Sheriff’s Department, Ryan Luce State Farm, JR Davis Vending, The Four Brothers, and USI Insurance, respectively.

In all, over 112 unique organizations helped raise over $33,000 to support a variety of programs at Hamilton Center geared toward youth mental health services.

“We feel privileged for this event to garner this much engagement from so many organizations in the Wabash Valley,” said Melvin L. Burks, President & CEO of Hamilton Center, Inc. “These funds serve hundreds of children and their families from across the Valley.”

“We’ve been able to provide a broad array of things to children and their families,” said Dwight Weaver, Program Manager. “From sponsoring sports physicals and after school activities to providing bedding, clothes, and school supplies these partnerships have really created some direct impact in the lives of our consumers.”

Hamilton Center, Inc. is a regional behavioral health system in Central and West Central Indiana with corporate offices located in Terre Haute. Services are provided to children, youth, and adults, with specialized programs for expectant mothers, infants, and people who may be struggling with stress, life changes, or relationship issues as well as more serious problems such as depression, anxiety disorders, and serious mental illnesses.
