TERRE HAUTE – Hamilton Center, Inc. (HCI) will host the 33rd Annual Sheriff Shootout Golf Outing, sponsored by First Financial Corporation, at Rea Park in Terre Haute on Friday May 10, 2024.
All community members and organizations are invited to register a team and compete in a field of 50 or more teams for 1st through 7th place in the Community Tournament. As is tradition, Sheriff’s teams compete in a morning Sheriff’s Tournament for the coveted Sheriff’s Shootout Trophy. AM and PM flights are available at 7:30 AM and 1:00 PM respectively, with complimentary breakfast in the morning and lunch provided starting at 11:00 AM.
Registration and Sponsorships can be completed at sheriffshootout.com. “There are a variety of opportunities to get involved,” said Zach Jenkins, Event Coordinator. “100% of the proceeds go to benefit children’s mental health services in our community – that’s a wonderful cause to be a part of.”
Funds from the event have been used for a number of things ranging from service provision, program materials, sport physicals, household needs, food, mental health focused events, afterschool programs and sponsorships, car seats, and parental support.
“These funds create real impact in the lives of children in our community,” said Dwight Weaver, Director of Child & Adolescent Services. “We’ve used them to provide students with sports physicals – a huge deal and social opportunity for those students. Another family received a full bed set, which we all know is a fundamental requirement for mental health and wellness.”
“Its been a great 33 years for this event and we thank every past and present sponsor that has made it possible,” said Melvin Burks, President & CEO of Hamilton Center, Inc. “With their support and that of those new to the event, we can continue to build on the Shootout’s impact in the community.”
