TERRE HAUTE – Hamilton Center, Inc. hosted its annual Employee Kick-off on Friday, July 14 at Tilson Auditorium on the campus of Indiana State University. The event, in its 11th year, celebrated Hamilton Center staff and the start of a new fiscal year, all while showing support to local businesses.
Hamilton Center, Inc. staff were out in force to take over downtown Terre Haute and eight area restaurants by wearing bright orange shirts. Downtown looked like a “sea of orange”, said an observer.
After a hearty breakfast at local downtown restaurants, compliments of Hamilton Center, staff converged on Tilson Auditorium. Mr. Melvin L. Burks, Hamilton Center’s President & CEO was the MC for the event; music played; prizes were handed out to well-deserved staff and awards were presented. Staff also heard from the new Vigo County Superintendent of Schools, Dr Chris Himsel, who shared his background and vision for the future.
Also, as part of the event, the Chief Clinical Officer, Mark Collins, got “pied” in the face as a result of an employee fundraiser to benefit two families who had lost family members/Hamilton Center employees this year.
Lastly, the organization recognized Employees of the Quarter and Employees of the year. Employees of the Quarter winners included: Jordan Montgomery, Assistant IPU Supervisor in 24-hour Services; Mohammed Ramadan, Chief of Information Technology in Administrative Services; Gayle Velasquez, Program Assistant of the Indianapolis Satellite; and Michael Bell, Care Manager in Vigo County. Employees of the Year (presented each year by Mr. Burks) included Rhoda Lamb, Program Assistant of Vigo County Outpatient and Emily Owens, Deputy Chief Clinical Officer of Hamilton Center, Inc.
“These employees – and really every member of our HCI family – showed outstanding effort in serving our consumers this year,” said Melvin L Burks, President & CEO of Hamilton Center, Inc. “As a corporation we are pleased to recognize them for these efforts and to celebrate the impact their work has had on our consumers and community.”
