GREATER LAFAYETTE – Greater Lafayette Commerce’s (GLC) annual Business Expo returns to the Tippecanoe County Fairgrounds Sept. 17, with 120 regional brands, food trucks, special offers, interactive experiences and new breakout sessions.
Exhibitors span industries as varied as health care, manufacturing, education, construction, tech, marketing, nonprofits and more. Many plan to offer giveaways, promotional deals and live demonstrations throughout the day. The lineup includes Franciscan Health, Old National Bank, Purdue University, CityBus, Accent Consulting, Freckles Graphics, Studio b Dance, Tonn and Blank Construction, Habitat for Humanity and The National Group. First held in 1974 as a small business trade show, the expo has grown into the region’s largest business networking event. Year after year, it has adapted to shifts in the economy and the needs of local companies while staying true to its purpose of helping local businesses grow and succeed through knowledge, community and access.
“Business works best when we know each other; that’s why we put the Business Expo together,” said Mikel Berger, president and CEO of Greater Lafayette Commerce. “As you walk the floor, you’ll meet new people, catch up with folks you already know and maybe find a partner who takes some weight off your shoulders: a caterer for your next event, a financial institution that backs your next move or a tech partner who can help you modernize. And if you sit in on a breakout session, you might pick up an idea or two. At GLC, our goal is simple: you walk out with something useful for your business.”
Alongside the exhibitor floor, local food trucks will be at the Fairgrounds throughout most of the day. Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee Truck will be outside from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Gordo’s Truck, Eddie Joe’s Icehouse and Yurburger will serve lunch from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The event, sponsored by Old National Bank, also introduces new breakout sessions where entrepreneurs and business leaders can dive into fresh ideas with local experts. Iris Goldfeder, founder of GasStoveCreative, a creative marketing agency based in Lafayette, will lead a breakout session on how business leaders can match the right message to the right social media platform and build a marketing plan that works for their audience. Drawing on her decades of experience helping brands grow their digital presence, Goldfeder will focus on practical strategies for businesses of all sizes, budgets and marketing experience levels. Her session begins at 2:30 p.m. Register here: bit.ly/GLCBreakoutMarketing.
Then, at 3:15 p.m., Nikeytha Ramsey, founder of West Lafayette-based Junobie, the eco-friendly product line for new mothers that secured a deal on ABC’s Shark Tank, will explain how to pitch yourself and your business with the polish required to seize high-stakes opportunities. “Old National Bank has always believed that strong businesses build strong communities, and that’s why we’re proud to be the presenting sponsor for the Business Expo,” said Heather Thompson, senior vice president, market president, Old National Bank. “For a region of our size, we punch far above our weight: a manufacturing backbone paired with a world-class university that coexist with emerging ventures and a dense network of small and mid-sized enterprises. The Business Expo gives us a front row seat to all of that, while helping them access the partners, customers and resources they need to keep powering Greater Lafayette’s economy.”
The Business Expo is free and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the East Wing of the Tippecanoe County Fairgrounds. No registration is required to attend the main event. Exhibitor details, breakout session registration and the event floor plan are available at bit.ly/GLCBizExp25.
