Respiratory Protection Train the Trainer Course
June 14, 2022 - 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
Event Navigation
Not recognizing the applicability of this broadly applying and complex regulation is why the Respiratory Protection Standard (1910.134) is one of the most frequently cited standards following workplace OSHA inspections. Adding a measure of confusion, COVID-19’s global pandemic has necessitated unprecedented levels of attention to disease transmission prevention, facial coverings and respiratory protection. OSHA has issued directives for all business sectors and a COVID-19 Emergency Temporary Standard (regulation) for the Healthcare sector.
This training will help you answer the following questions:
- How do I know which chemical hazards pose danger?
- When does OSHA mandate respiratory protection?
- Does OSHA require employers to identify and evaluate these airborne hazards?
- What is “fit testing” and how does that work?
- Is specific training required?
- What are the medical implications and requirements?
Presented by:
Bill Simkins, CSP, W.E. Simkins & Associates
OSHA requires employers to develop and implement a written respiratory protection program with worksite-specific procedures and elements for required respirator use. Even when respirators are worn voluntarily certain program elements may be required to prevent potential hazards associated with the use of the respirator.
Many employers are unaware that OSHA requires the Respirator Program to be administered by a “suitably trained program administrator”.
Who Should Attend?
- Employers who need training for their Respirator Program Administrators and Trainers
- Those seeking additional clarity on the OSHA regulation’s applicability to their workplace
- Employers with an established program who would benefit from a program gap review
- Process operations employees
- Maintenance employees
- Sanitation employees
- Site engineers
- Human Resources leaders
