Employees Order Direct from Local Farms and Artisans, Delivered to Workplace through a partnership with Indiana Startup Market Wagon LLC

Starting the week of December 2, the staff of 338 Hoosiers who work at Beck’s home office in Atlanta, Indiana have a new way to include fresh, local foods in their diet. Market Wagon, an Indianapolis-based startup, has partnered with Beck’s to bring a virtual farmers market to the workplace.

The online farmers market experience allows employees to browse products on their computer or smartphone throughout the week and place an order from any of over 200 local farms, orchards and artisan food makers. To save time, Beck’s has arranged for deliveries to be made to their workplace with no delivery fees for any order. Employees then pick up their pre-packed order and take it home with them at the end of the day.

“We are very excited to be able to offer this to our team,” said Laura McKee, Benefits Specialist at Beck’s. “Wellness involves much more than calorie counting and label-reading. The farmers market experience brings about a community connection, both among our team and with the food producers right here in our own community. That’s living well.”

“This business is all about giving consumers more ways and more access to buy local,” said Ryan Thomas, Director of Business Development for Market Wagon. “By creating a virtual farmers market for workplace communities, we are increasing the market for local farms and artisans, and helping people at the workplace understand where their food comes from on a more relational level.”

The first delivery to Beck’s is on Thursday, December 12 and will continue weekly, year-round. More programs are planned for this winter such as an on-site seminar on the importance of local food communities, and an all-local break room snack day for employees to enjoy.
