Distinguished civic leader and former EmployIndy CEO to lead Indiana’s premier philanthropic network

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Philanthropy Alliance, the statewide membership organization representing grantmaking entities, announced today the appointment of Angela Carr Klitzsch as its new president and chief executive officer. Following a comprehensive national search conducted in partnership with Medallion Partners, the board selected Klitzsch for her 25-year track record of transformative leadership in philanthropy, workforce development and civic engagement. She will officially assume her duties on March 16, 2026.

The appointment marks a significant “full circle” moment for the organization, as Klitzsch previously served on the IPA Board of Directors from 2014 to 2016.

Klitzsch most recently served as chief executive officer of Women4Change Indiana, where she expanded the organization’s programming and engagement strategy to activate Hoosiers to participate in civic life and advance positive change for women. Prior to that role, she served for six years as president and CEO of EmployIndy, where she led the development of the organization’s first strategic plan and launched innovative initiatives to address systemic workforce challenges, increasing organizational revenues threefold during her tenure.

“Angela’s deep experience in philanthropy, community engagement and cross-sector collaboration makes her an exceptional choice to lead Indiana Philanthropy Alliance,” said Brienne Hooker, chair of the IPA Board of Directors. “Her ability to build partnerships and bring diverse stakeholders together will strengthen IPA’s role as a trusted convener and resource for philanthropic organizations across the state.”

Klitzsch’s career is defined by high-impact roles, including serving as vice president of global philanthropy at JPMorgan Chase & Co., where she managed corporate giving across a multi-state region. Her background also includes leadership positions at the Central Indiana Community Foundation and The Clowes Fund, and international service as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Republic of Moldova.

“I am honored to join Indiana Philanthropy Alliance and work alongside philanthropic leaders across our state,” said Klitzsch. “Indiana has a strong tradition of collaboration and generosity, and IPA plays a vital role in connecting organizations, sharing knowledge and strengthening the impact of philanthropy in communities large and small. I look forward to building on that foundation and helping our members advance meaningful change across Indiana.”

A recognized leader in the state, Klitzsch was named an Indianapolis Business Journal Woman of Influence in 2019 and an IBJ 40 Under 40 honoree in 2018. She is an alumna of the prestigious Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership Series and has dedicated her time to numerous boards, including the Indiana Afterschool Network, the Coalition for Homeless Intervention and Prevention and the Indianapolis Urban League.

Klitzsch holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and history from the University of Notre Dame and earned both a Master of Public Affairs in nonprofit management and a Master of Arts in philanthropic studies from Indiana University. She currently serves on the Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs Distinguished Alumni Council and the board of RecycleForce.
