Please join attorneys from Jackson Lewis P.C. for an informative seminar on how to conduct effective workplace investigations.
The program will focus on best practices and techniques for interviewing witnesses and preserving relevant information, as well as maintaining attorney-client privilege and securing documents necessary to defend against any potential workplace complaints. We will also discuss how to properly complete investigative reports and files, and the dos and don’ts of communicating investigation outcomes to employees.
Topics Include:
- Legal and ethical obligations
- Types of complaints that warrant investigation (harassment, discrimination, theft, safety, etc.)
- Receiving a complaint: Intake and triage
- Notifying involved parties
- Questioning strategies for complainants, respondents and witnesses
- Evidence collection (documents, emails, CCTV, etc.)
- Maintaining documentation and chain of custody
- Remedial actions and discipline and preventing retaliation
