STAR Bank’s north region president Joe Martin announces his plans to retire in the first quarter of 2022.
Martin has held many roles across the bank during his nearly 40 years at STAR. He began as a collector for 1st National Bank of Madison County that later rolled into STAR.
“Interest rates were 21% and the unemployment rate in Anderson was 27%, so not a good time to be a collector,” jokes Joe Martin, regional president at STAR Bank.
Martin spent much of his career in leadership positions serving Madison County, Elwood, Anderson, Marion, and Kokomo before moving into his current position of north regional president in 2012. He also served as president and chairman of STAR Insurance Agency, and as a member of the Board of Directors for: STAR, Security Bank in Elwood, and Titan Investments.
“Joe has been an important leader at STAR throughout the years, and we are extremely appreciative of his dedication and commitment throughout his career,” says Kevin Wright, executive vice president of commercial banking. “I’ve enjoyed Joe’s work ethic combined with his ability to never take himself too seriously. We will surely miss him at STAR; however, we know he will enjoy his family time.”
