The Indiana Chamber is partnering with Indiana-based Engage Mentoring to offer a new service aimed at helping Hoosier employers skill up their workforce and keep employees further engaged as remote work continues for many.

The effort connects employees virtually – via phone or video conference – with mentors to help them grow their skills on a variety of topics. The model uses a proprietary software system to assist employees in career development by forging relationships with qualified mentors throughout the business community as well as acquiring the necessary skillset to become good mentors themselves.

We believe this company-to-company mentoring program can be an important resource for our members to address the continual call to better attract, retain and develop their talent. Beyond that critical mission, employers are now, more than ever, looking for meaningful ways for employee engagement and inclusion. This program can be a powerful strategy to achieve that within their workforce.

This effort is part of the Indiana Chamber’s Institute for Workforce Excellence and its focus on helping Indiana businesses and communities foster an environment that drives a stronger and more equitable workforce.

Data tells us how truly effective mentoring programs are in meeting this challenge:

  • 95% of employee mentees indicate that the experience motivates them to do their best
  • 88% of employees say they’ll choose development over pay
  • 77% of organizations report that mentoring improves retention

The Engage Mentoring service – built as a 12-month program – is available to Indiana Chamber member companies at a discount. The actual cost is based on the size of the company and number of participants in the program. Typically, that translates to less than $60 per month, per employee.

A 40-minute webinar launching the partnership took place yesterday and is available on-demand. (For those who attended/watch, your feedback is appreciated.)
