Making an ‘IMPACT’ Through Internships, Mentoring

2018-01-17T12:56:47+00:00 January 17th, 2018|

What happens when talent, teamwork and passion converge in the workplace? The possibilities are boundless.

Celebrate some of the remarkable stories taking place across Indiana at the 12th annual IMPACT Awards Luncheon on February 7.

Presented by Indiana INTERNnet – an internship-matching program managed by the Indiana Chamber connecting employers, students and educators – the event honors internship excellence.

There are three categories:

  • Intern of the Year (high school, college and non-traditional)
  • Employer of the Year (nonprofit and for-profit)
  • Career Development Professional of the Year

Ivy Tech Community College is sponsoring the event, which will take place at the Ivy Tech Community College Culinary and Conference Center.

“Each year, the nominations tell inspiring stories of how Indiana employers are building the talent pipeline,” remarks Indiana INTERNnet executive director Janet Boston.

Keynote speaker Chris Heeter, founder of The Wild Institute, will share insights on Guiding the Team to Success.

“She’ll draw upon her experiences leading a sled dog team and as a whitewater trip guide to highlight the topics of leadership, team building and diversity. She’ll also talk about the value that every person brings to a team and how different personalities work together to build a team,” Boston comments.

A record number of nominations (90) were submitted, representing more than 50 cities in Indiana and beyond (out-of-state interns must attend a school in Indiana or be employed by an Indiana employer).

The event will also include recognition of the Indiana Chamber Foundation’s School Counseling-Business Partnership of the Year.
