James Horrey, Matthew Johns, and Jessie Laurin joined the firm in the Indianapolis office. Jenny Bobbitt, Stephanie Bruns, Amanda Dohn, Laura Habein, Michael Mercurio, Kyle Miller, and Gail Oppenheimer joined the Louisville office. Indianapolis

James (Jay) Horrey joins the Corporate Services Department in Indianapolis as an associate. He concentrates his practice on corporate law and mergers and acquisitions, working with a wide variety of businesses including car dealerships, real estate holding and management companies, land developers, breweries and restaurants. Prior to joining BGD, Jay was an associate at Mallor Grodner in Bloomington where he clerked for two years while in law school and joined the firm as an associate in Fall 2012. Jay earned his J.D. from Indiana University Maurer School of Law and B.A. from Wabash College.

Matthew (Matt) Johns joins the Litigation Department in Indianapolis as of counsel after relocating from Atlanta, Georgia. Matt’s practice consists of the representation of clients in various corporate and partnership disputes, construction and real estate disputes, class action litigation, governmental litigation, and securities litigation.  Matt also represents athlete agency firms, athlete agents, coaches, and athletes in litigation and compliance matters.  Matt graduated from the University of Illinois College of Law and comes to BGD from Greenberg Traurig, LLP in Atlanta.

Jessica (Jessie) Laurin joins the Litigation Department in Indianapolis, where she brings experience in tort issues and contracts. Prior to joining BGD as an associate, Jessica was a summer associate for the firm in 2016. Jessica graduated magna cum laude with her J.D. from Indiana University Maurer School of Law in 2017. While in law school, Jessica externed for the Marion County Superior Court, the Indiana Court of Appeals and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana.

Louisville

Jenny Bobbitt joins the Corporate Services Department in Louisville as an associate. Jenny focuses her practice on corporate governance, finance, franchising, and general contract and business law. Prior to joining BGD, Jenny worked as an associate at Dinsmore & Shohl handling commercial litigation and employment law matters. Jenny is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis School of Law where she earned her J.D. and MBA at the Olin School of Business simultaneously.

Stephanie Bruns joins the Tax & Employee Benefits Department in Louisville as an associate. Stephanie earned her J.D. from Notre Dame Law School in 2017. Prior to joining BGD, Stephanie was a Certified Legal Intern at the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office and the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney for the 24th Judicial Circuit in Hamilton County.

Amanda Dohn joins the Litigation Department in Louisville as an associate. She was previously a Summer Associate with BGD in 2016. Amanda earned her J.D. from the University of Louisville Louis D. Brandeis School of Law, graduating magna cum laude in 2017.

Laura Habein joins the Tax & Employee Benefits Department in Louisville as an associate. As a law student, Laura was an extern for Judge Jon E. DeGuilio in the Northern District of Indiana District Court. She obtained her J.D. from the Notre Dame Law School, graduating magna cum laude.

Michael Mercurio joins the Corporate Services Department in Louisville as an associate. He was previously a summer associate with BGD in 2016. He focuses his practice in beverage alcohol law and other commercial/transactional matters. While at Notre Dame Law School, Michael interned at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in South Bend, where he appeared on behalf of the United States in minor hearings.

Kyle Miller joins the Litigation Department in Louisville as an associate with a focus on cybersecurity and privacy. He was previously a summer associate with BGD in 2016. Kyle is a 2017 graduate of the Vanderbilt University Law School. While at Vanderbilt, Kyle clerked for the United States Attorney’s Office, focusing on the areas of healthcare fraud, white collar crime, and computer crime prosecution. He also holds a Master of Science in Applied Information Technology from Bellarmine University.

Gail Oppenheimer joins the Corporate Services Department in Louisville. Gail focuses her practice on commercial real estate transactions including acquisition, development, financing (construction and permanent), and disposition. Gail also has significant experience drafting and negotiating retail, office and industrial leases, property management agreements, and construction-related agreements. Prior to joining BGD, Gail worked with Wyatt Tarrant & Combs, Frost Brown Todd, and Lynch Cox Gilman & Goodman.
