Important Employee Policies Highlight October Seminar Lineup

(INDIANAPOLIS) — How to properly handle the workplace harassment issue and implement other appropriate employee policies are addressed at two upcoming Indiana Chamber workshops held in Indianapolis.

Event details:

Workplace Harassment Seminar, October 16 at the Indianapolis Marriott East at 7202 E. 21st St. in Indianapolis, 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Workplace harassment is expensive for Hoosier employers, both in terms of the millions of dollars spent each year litigating such claims and the negative impact on workplace productivity. This risk is enhanced by the fact that unlawful harassment is not just based on sex anymore. Workplace harassment based on age, race and religion is becoming more commonplace. This seminar is presented by Ogletree Deakins. Cost: Indiana Chamber members, $299; non-members, $324.

Model Employee Policies Workshop, October 21 at the Indiana Chamber Conference Center at 115 W. Washington St., Suite 850S in downtown Indianapolis, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. New to the employee policies workshop this year is information on how a recent district court decision affects employee handbooks and whether companies should consider "love contracts" to prevent sexual harassment claims arising from consensual office relationships. Other new topics include duty-to-report policy, nursing mother policy and how to prepare for the possible passage of the Employee Free Choice Act. The workshop is presented by Bose McKinney & Evans LLP. Cost: Indiana Chamber members, $299; non-members, $324.
