(INDIANAPOLIS) -- An Indianapolis woman with outstanding achievements in human resources was honored today by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce as the 2010 Ogletree Deakins/HR Dimensions Human Resources Professional of the Year.
Donna Wilkinson, vice president of human resources at Pacers Sports & Entertainment, was recognized during the 46th Annual Human Resources Conference and Expo at the Indianapolis Marriott East. Wilkinson's career with the company began in 2002.
To be chosen as HR Professional of the Year, Wilkinson demonstrated significant contributions to her organization over the past year and throughout her tenure with Pacers Sports & Entertainment. The award is given annually to a human resources professional, such as Wilkinson, whose implementation of best practices, organization design and effectiveness, and alignment and accomplishment of the company's strategic direction provide lasting impact.
Since joining the organization, Wilkinson created the human resources/payroll department while forging relationships within all levels of Pacers Sports & Entertainment. Her achievements include: implemented and participated in an executive team building series to improve communications; analyzed all benefit plans and proposed changes that saved the company money while offering the best coverage at an affordable cost; established a wellness program for employees; and developed community services days for all employees to give back to the community. Wilkinson's down-to-earth and honest approach in addition to her positive outlook has earned her well-deserved respect from employees, according to the award nomination.
