(INDIANAPOLIS) -- Two upcoming seminars hosted by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce in September will focus on human resources, including employee benefits and how to supervise and manage employees.
Event details include:
- Employee Benefits Seminar, September 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Benefits and HR administrators, small business owners, HR professionals and CFOs should attend this seminar which focuses on how changes at the federal level will affect Hoosier organizations. Topics to be discussed include health care reform, retirement plan documents and new retirement plan disclosure rules, results of the 2011 Indiana Employer Health Benefits Survey, a refresher course on COBRA, wellness programs and workplace accommodations for nursing mothers. The workshop is presented by Ogletree Deakins and is worth one credit toward the completion of the Chamber's Human Resource Specialist Certificate program. Cost is $329; $299 with Chamber-member discount.
- Supervising and Managing People Workshop, September 15-16 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Presented by Comprehensive Performance Systems, this two-day workshop will teach supervisors and managers about the requirements for success in management, understanding why employees do what they do, the 10 most important factors in motivation, how to be a more effective leader, dealing with employee problems and much more. Speaker Phillip Thompson will touch on topics relating to coaching for peak performance, techniques for motivating people, managing for personal effectiveness, communication and problem solving, and styles of leadership. Cost is $599.
