(INDIANAPOLIS) -- Few, if any, events in American history can compare to the dubious scandal that is Watergate. Some 40 years later, Hoosiers have the opportunity to hear in person from the legendary journalists who first broke the story -- on how it unfolded and the lasting lessons for the Oval Office.
On November 1, Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward will take the stage at the Indiana Chamber of Commerce's 23rd Annual Awards Dinner, discussing the Nixon presidency, politics and journalism with "Inside the White House: From Nixon to Obama."
Presented in partnership with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, the event takes place at the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis. A reception begins at 5 p.m. and dinner is served at 6:30 p.m.
"With the passage of time, Watergate needs to be understood both by the generation that experienced it and future generations," believes Bernstein.
Speaking in general about Watergate's legacy on the White House, Woodward offers, "I think each administration (since) has learned how to manage the information in the way they want."
In addition to the feature presentation, Indiana's Business Leader of the Year, Government Leader of the Year and Community of the Year will be recognized that evening.
Tables of 10 are $2,250 for gold seating, $1,650 for silver seating and $1,200 for standard seating. Individual tickets are $120 each. Tickets can be purchased online (www.indianachamber.com/specialevents) or by calling (800) 824-6885. Seating is limited.
