Economic Vision 2010 is the Indiana Chamber’s long-range economic development plan to make Indiana a dynamic and vibrant environment to establish, operate and grow a business.

Though Indiana is a leader in agriculture and manufacturing, today’s and, more importantly, tomorrow’s global economy is increasingly based on innovation and entrepreneurism. The state must maintain its current strengths in addition to creating the jobs of the future.

To create a dynamic business environment – one that benefits companies, communities and families – the state must excel in the five driver areas of Economic Vision 2010:

  • Education/Workforce Development – achieve world-class performance in K-12 education, higher education and adult worker training/retraining.
  • Business Costs – make Indiana a competitive place to do business in the areas of tax, energy and health care costs.
  • Government/Regulatory Environment – have a positive, proactive relationship between the public and private sector.
  • Infrastructure – build state of the art information and telecommunications systems as well as high-quality roads, bridges, airports, railways and ports.
  • Dynamism/Entrepreneurism – commercialize intellectual capital, establish a more favorable image of Indiana and create a dynamic economy that is able to grow and attract globally competitive businesses.
  • Completed Initiatives - Since Economic Vision 2010 was established in 2000, the Indiana Chamber and its coalition partners have accomplished a number of initiatives. Each driver area has seen improvement. Among the significant advancements have been the historic 2002 tax restructuring, improved education standards and 2003 economic development initiatives.

Implementation requires the commitment and cooperation of public and private sector leaders. Economic Vision 2010 forms the basis each year for the Chamber’s legislative agenda, its action in the regulatory arena and economic development initiatives.
